Schoemansville, the original town, is named after Genl Hendrik Schoeman, a war veteran who owned the farm on which Harties had been established. Schoemansville is home to the public schools, businesses, restaurants, churches, the yacht club, the snake park and animal and bird sanctuary, many state of the art houses with uninterrupted views of the dam as well as affordable spacious houses.
