Courtrai at a glance

Courtrai is an area in southern Paarl however, the definition of Courtrai in the English dictionary is a town in Western Belgium, in West Flanders on the Lys River which is the largest producer of linen in Western Europe. Its Flemish name is pronounced Kortrijk and that is where this popular area in Paarl got its name from. It is known as one of the wealthier suburbs in the southern part of Paarl and is home to Courtrai Primary; a very popular option for families with younger children.

Homes in this sought-after suburb attract buyers from as nearby as Durbanville to as far as Pretoria and Johannesburg, who are looking to live in the school catchment area. It is also a popular option because of the easy access to the N1 and proximity to Paarl Mall and estates further south like Paryskloof, Kleine Parys, Groot Parys, Boschenmeer and Val de Vie / Pearl Valley. The Knus Karoo Kombuis is also a family favourite in this area and there are many renowned wine farms still in operation here including Laborie, Fairview and the Spice Route which is just on the other side of the Paarl mountain. Homes in this area have wonderful views of the winelands and the majestic mountain ranges on the horizon. Plots on average are about 800 sqm and prices range from R 3 500 000 to R 7 500 000 (excluding farms and small holdings).
