Moreleta Park at a glance

Moreleta Park is a suburb of Pretoria, which is situated just 12 kilometres southeast of the city centre. It is well located for quick access to Centurion, Johannesburg or Pretoria, as it is in close proximity to the N1 and R21.

Moreleta Park boasts a mixture of properties that cater to both commercial and residential markets. A brief history of the area
Moreleta Park was named after the Moreletaspruit. Moreleta comes from the Northern Sotho name, Moretelwa, which refers to the raisin bush that is used to make an alcoholic drink.

Back in the early 1800s, there was a successful dairy farm on the portion where Moreleta Kloof is located today. Carel Erasmus purchased the farm in the late 1800s and built a house which was later turned into a chapel. In 1903 Carel's son in law, Johan Marneweck, built his house in the area which is now known as the Rademeyers Restaurant. The restaurant is situated at the entrance to the Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve.

The climate in Moreleta Park can be described as humid and subtropical. Summers are long and rainy while winters are short, cool to cold, and dry. The average annual temperature is 18.7 °C.

Located nearby, the Kruger House is a popular historical Pretoria residence of the Boer leader and President of the South African Republic, Paul Kruger. The Kruger House is now a house museum which aims to recreate the ambience of the time that Kruger lived in.
