A brief history of the area
In 1878, a pioneer column of Afrikaner farmers settled alongside the passing Apies River, in the north of Pretoria. The area became a popular stopping point for travellers moving through the North of Pretoria to the Northern Transvaal. 

Between 1886 and 1910 the Paul Kruger Administration laid down a railway connecting Pretoria with Polokwane. The Wonderboom station is located in Pretoria North became the main reason why the area developed into a small town of its own.

1904 the Pretoria-North Parallel Medium school was established and was the first state school in the area in Pretoria. Now called Laerskool Danie Malan, it is a sought-after facility rich in history and tradition. It has been an anchor of the Pretoria North Community for over 115 years.
